THE TETRIS COMPANY CELEBRATES A LANDMARK YEAR OF GLOBAL GROWTH, CULTURAL IMPACT, AND REAL-WORLD INNOVATION IN 2025
From Record-Breaking Live Experiences and Global Esports to Sustainability, Fashion, and Industry Honors
LAS VEGAS, NV — January 5, 2026 — As 2026 begins, The Tetris Company reflects on one of the most ambitious and transformative years in the Tetris® brand’s four-decade history. Created in 1984 by Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris continues to evolve far beyond the screen, emerging this year as a global cultural platform spanning live competition, sustainability, fashion, film, and real-world innovation.
“Tetris continues to surprise and inspire,” said Maya Rogers, CEO of The Tetris Company. “From winning Best Interactive or Digital Brand of 2025 to launching new versions of the game on new platforms, and delivering fresh, innovative collaborations and a record-breaking, global Red Bull Tetris esports competition, 2025 was a powerful statement about where the brand is today. Tetris remains culturally relevant, creatively ambitious, and firmly top of mind for players around the world.”
Across platforms, Tetris continued to expand how players engage with the iconic game and ensured its availability wherever audiences play. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, launched with the new Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2025, builds on the proven success of the Puyo Puyo Tetris franchise, expanding the celebrated crossover with new cooperative gameplay and competitive depth. Tetris also expanded to cloud and streaming platforms, bringing the game to new living room experiences through Netflix and Amazon Luna. On Netflix, Tetris Time Warp debuted as part of a new slate of party games that allow players to use their phones as controllers, transforming the TV into a shared social gaming experience alongside titles such as LEGO Party, Pictionary Game Night, and Boggle Party. On Amazon Luna, Tetris Effect: Connected Party Edition includes fan-favorite multiplayer modes plus the new Mystery Battle, where up to four players compete amid unpredictable hazards. Players can also team up in Connected, go head-to-head in Zone Battle, or compete for high scores in Score Attack modes.
One major milestone of the year was the launch of Red Bull Tetris, a six-month global partnership with Red Bull that brought Tetris to the center of global competition and culture. The worldwide competitive tournament spanned 60 countries, with over 7 million games played as participants played through qualifiers and in-person national finals for the chance to represent their nations on the global stage. The competition culminated in the Red Bull Tetris World Final in December at the Dubai Frame, where top players faced off in a historic finale featuring the first-ever official live playable Tetris game in the sky, brought to life by more than 2,000 synchronized drones. Beyond competition, the partnership extended into culture through Red Bull Tetris cans across select markets, a limited edition apparel collection with Suspicious Antwerp, and an exclusive release of limited edition Red Bull Tetris playable cans created by handheld game manufacturer My Arcade, reinforcing Tetris as a globally visible, multi-dimensional cultural phenomenon.
In 2025, The Tetris Company highlighted the real-world impact of its iconic logic through an innovative partnership with France’s national postal service, La Poste Groupe. By applying Tetris-inspired stacking principles, La Poste has tripled truck capacity and reduced more than 15,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Unveiled by Philippe Wahl, Chairman of La Poste Groupe, and Maya Rogers at VivaTech Paris, the collaboration also included collectible Tetris stamps, Tetris-branded parcel boxes and a limited-edition collection of apparel and accessories. The initiative has since received significant industry recognition, earning a Bronze Award in the Creative Business Transformation category at Eurobest, a leading European festival celebrating excellence in advertising, design, media, and communications, as well as a Silver Trophy for Best Brand and Brand Collaboration at the Brand Transformation Awards organized by La Réclame.
The global Tetris community remained at the heart of the brand throughout the year. The 16th annual Classic Tetris World Championship (CTWC), a fan-driven tournament featuring the NES version of the game, once again brought elite players and fans together to celebrate mastery of the original NES game, reinforcing the Tetris game’s enduring competitive legacy. The event also featured a special World Championship tournament for Tetris The Grand Master (TGM) 4 - Absolute Eye to celebrate Arika’s latest installment of the TGM series after a 20-year hiatus. At the Tribeca Film Festival, the world premiere of BLUE SCUTI: Tetris Crasher spotlighted the human stories behind the game, chronicling teenage phenom Willis “Blue Scuti” Gibson’s historic achievement as the first human to reach the Tetris killscreen and exploring themes of resilience, grief, and community.
Industry recognition followed throughout the year as Tetris was awarded Best Interactive or Digital Brand at the 2025 Licensing International Excellence Awards and Maya Rogers also received the inaugural Vanguard Award at Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WiT) 20th annual Wonder Women Awards.
More beyond screens, Tetris expanded its presence through a major global partnership with Spin Master, bringing the brand into the physical realm through puzzles, board games, and tabletop play. Announced in 2024 with product launches rolling out in 2025, the collaboration includes Tetris Impossible Puzzle, a high challenge 676 piece puzzle, and Tetris The Board Game, a fast-paced competitive experience for two to four players. The partnership also introduced a landmark extended collaboration with Rubik’s Cube under Spin Master, Rubik’s Cube Tetris, bringing two of the world’s most iconic puzzle brands together. This bold fusion reimagines the classic cube in the vibrant Tetrimino colorway and bridges digital logic and hands-on problem solving in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Separately, Tetris achieved widespread retail success with Tetris Tumble XL from Eastpoint Sports, released exclusively at Costco, which quickly became a viral favorite and brought large-scale, social gameplay to families and fans around the world.
Tetris further cemented its place as a lifestyle and cultural icon through fashion and design collaborations spanning streetwear, lifestyle, and luxury. Partnerships with Sprayground, LeSportsac, and the Parisian fashion house Olympia Le Tan blended bold contemporary design with nostalgia and craftsmanship, introducing iconic Tetrimino imagery to new fashion forward audiences and reinforcing the Tetris brand’s evolution into a full scale lifestyle brand with global cultural relevance.
The year also saw the release of The Perfect Game: Tetris, From Russia with Love by founder Henk Rogers, offering the definitive account of the high stakes journey that brought Tetris to the world. The book added a powerful narrative layer to the franchise’s legacy, connecting its origins to its continued evolution today.
As The Tetris Company looks ahead to 2026, the brand remains focused on innovation, and meaningful global connection, continuing to expand how and where the world experiences Tetris while honoring the elegant simplicity that made it timeless.
