BLUE SCUTI: Tetris Crasher the Documentary by Legendary Films

In December 2023, thirteen year old Wills Gibson, also known online as Blue Scuti, beat Tetris for the first time in history. He was able to reach the “kill screen” while streaming live from his bedroom, and since that moment his life changed forever.

Tetris® is proud to celebrate the premiere of Blue Scuti: Tetris Crasher, a new documentary highlighting Gibson's achievement. Directed by Chris Moukarbel, the feature-length documentary debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival 2025 and tells the incredible story of how Gibson reached Level 157 on the original NES version of the game, causing the game to crash, which was previously believed to be impossible. Capturing the moment live instantly became part of gaming history, the documentary both celebrates the technical mastery and heartfelt coming of age portrait.

Maya Rogers, President and CEO of The Tetris Company, shared: "Willis’s achievement is not only a milestone in the history of our game. It’s a reminder of the power of human potential. What he accomplished has inspired players around the world, and we’re honored to see his story told in such a thoughtful and cinematic way.”

This documentary offers a deeper look at the person behind the achievement. Beyond the game, Blue Scuti: Tetris Crashes follows Gibson’s personal journey; his love for the game, the Classic Tetris community, and the emotional backdrop of losing his father just weeks before his record-breaking run.
